Previewing the matchup

The Alabama Crimson Tide come in as the No. 1 ranked team in the College Football Playoff, and are fresh off a close victory in the SEC title game over Clemson. Notre Dame, on the other hand, struggled mightily against the Clemson Tigers, as they continue to struggle in big games under head coach Brian Kelly.

Notre Dame’s offense has been solid all season long, and it will be interesting to see what offensive coordinator Tommy Rees will do. Will he try to break tendencies and run sets with five wide receivers, or will he go with the oh-so-rare “24 personnel” and have Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree run the wildcat offense with four tight ends? (yes, please)

There will undoubtedly be knee-jerk reactions to the outcome of Friday’s game. Perhaps we will see renewed cries of, “Notre Dame should never be allowed back into the College Football Playoff!” For a program that is accused of being irrelevant, people sure do love talking about Notre Dame.

Regardless of the final score, I hope we can all appreciate what the Irish have managed to accomplish in a season full of uncertainty. Here is how some of our writers at Slap The Sign see this game playing out.
