Mac Jones is not a dual-threat

The biggest problem in the ACC Championship game was Trevor Lawrence‘s ability to run the football, as this added dimension made it tough on the Irish defense. When things broke down for Lawrence, he was able to get away for big chunks of yardage, significantly extending Clemson’s drives.

The good news for Notre Dame is that Alabama All-American quarterback Mac Jones is a pro-style quarterback who will not make plays with his feet. Jones’s longest run of the season is 14 yards, so if things break down for him, it is not like the Irish have to worry about him taking off for 30 yards at a time.

Overall, he has rushed 26 times for -9 yards, relying more on the fact that he is an elite passer getting the ball downfield.  While he does not have a  ton of rushing yards, he is also pretty shifty in the pocket, as he has only been sacked ten times. He may be a stationary target but getting past the Alabama offensive line will be a challenge.
