Notre Dame Men’s Basketball: Nate Laszewski has NBA frame and game
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team has a special player in Nate Laszewski, who has the size, and game to play at the next level.
While the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team may not have the best record this season, as they have gone 3-6 to start the season, they have had some bright spots. Losers of four of their last five games, the Irish have played close games against both Virginia and North Carolina their last two times out, both solid teams.
As they look to start putting more notches in the win column, one thing has been very evident this season, and that is forward Nate Laszewski rounding into one of the best players in the country. The 6-foot-10 junior has everything you look for in an NBA player, and it seems like he is getting better each game.
Against Virginia and North Carolina, Laszewski scored 53 points, hauling in 15 rebounds, and played in nearly all 40 minutes both times.
Laszewski can score inside and out
Based on what we have seen from Laszewski this season, he is a guy that has the frame, and the game to play at the next level. A big man who can fill it up from the outside, he fits the NBA game perfectly and plays with the kind of tenacity that is going to make him a fan favorite at the next level.
Sure, he is going to have to bulk up a bit as a pro, but there is no doubt that he has the offensive skillset to make an impact in the NBA. He is very efficient from inside and out, as he is one of the top players in the country in terms of field goal percentage whether it from inside, or beyond the three-point line.
He has shaken off the inconsistencies that have plagued him early in his career and is playing better as the competition improves.
The next time we will see Laszewski take the court for the Irish, it will be Wednesday when the team looks to notch their first ACC victory against the 6-3 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. For Laszewski, his draft stock continues to rise every time he hits the hardwood and is legitimately rounding into a potential first-round pick in the next NBA Draft.
