Notre Dame football: 3 things Brian Kelly needs to do next
With his defensive coordinator in place, Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly must focus on these three things next heading into the 2021 season.
Brian Kelly has done an excellent job with the Notre Dame football program, as he took over a team in disarray following the Charlie Weis era. He’s returned the Irish to being one of college football’s great teams, and while he hasn’t won a national championship yet, he has had to take over a program facing a new era of college football with new realities.
Those realities have made it harder to win at Notre Dame, and still, Kelly has managed to have six ten-win seasons, three of which were unbeaten regular seasons.
The job that Brian Kelly has done is one of the best in Notre Dame’s history, and because of the circumstances, he is arguably one of the top-5 coaches in Notre Dame history. After all, Kelly is on pace to have the most wins in the longest career of any Notre Dame head coach, ever, more than Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian, Dan Devine, or Lou Holtz.
Brian Kelly will soon be the winningest coach in program history.
Clearly, Kelly has done a ton of things very well, like recruiting offensive linemen with the intent of dominating the trenches, but there’s still plenty of work to do in South Bend. Here are three things that Kelly should look to do next so that Notre Dame can take that next step during his time at the helm.
