Media is unsure where the Irish will land in 2021

Looking at the early rankings for the 2021 college football season, it is clear that the media does not feel this is going to be another Irish team that makes it to the College Football Playoff. They are losing Book, a ton of talent up front on offense and defense, and the best linebacker in college football in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, and that has been reflected in their current rankings.

For the most part, the media feels this will be a top-25 team, but is not going to sniff the top of the rankings this season. Looking at some of the recent rankings, Sports Illustrated rated the Irish as a top-10 team in the country, putting them right at No. 10 overall, which is about right in my opinion.

The Sporting News had Notre Dame football as the No. 6 team in the country heading into the offseason, and Dennis Dodd from CBS Sports has the Irish right outside of the top-10, coming in at No. 11 behind Texas A&M, the team they finished behind in the AP Poll.

The worst ranking we saw came from ESPN, who feels the Notre Dame football program in the middle of the pack at No. 15.
