Notre Dame football: One storyline for each 2021 matchup

Here is a look at games No. 7 through 9 for the 2021 Notre Dame football team.
Game No. 7: Notre Dame football vs. USC
After their bye week, the Notre Dame football team will be back in action for a tough two-game stretch against two elite quarterbacks in Kedon Slovis from USC and Sam Howell from North Carolina. The USC rivalry is a long and storied one, beginning in 1926, and within that time, each program has ruins championship runs for the other. The winner of the game gets a Jeweled Shillelagh.
Game No. 8: Notre Dame football vs. North Carolina
This matchup began back in 1949 inside Yankee Stadium during a season that saw the Irish win a national title. However, the most vivid memory has to come from the 1975 season, as it was against a North Carolina football team that Joe Montana came into the game and started to build his legend. That day, he hit Ted Burgmeier for an 80-yard touchdown, capping a comeback victory, 21-14.
Game No. 9: Notre Dame football vs. Navy
A rivalry game that has been extremely one-sided in Notre Dame’s favor, the Irish have a 77-13-1 record against the Midshipmen in their history. Beginning in 1927, this was the longest uninterrupted matchup in college football until COVID ruined that this past season, but they will pick it right back up in 2021. Though a lopsided record between these two teams, it is still a sacred event every season.
