Notre Dame football: Equanimeous St. Brown can punch SB ticket
By Brad Weiss
When thinking about the Green Bay Packers’ prolific offense, one does not immediately turn their attention to former Notre Dame football star Equanimeous St. Brown. In fact, when thinking of the Packers wide receiver, guys like Davante Adams and Allen Lizard come to mind before St. Brown.
However, as fans of the Notre Dame football program sit down on Sunday to watch Championship Sunday, St. Brown is the one who will have the attention of the fan base.
It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for St. Brown, who caught his first touchdown at the NFL level on Sunday Night Football against the Tennessee Titans on December 27. Since then, he has been a factor for the Packers’ offense and even hauled in a 27-yard catch in the Divisional Round win against Los Angeles.
St. Brown had been battling a knee issue this week but goes into the game with no injury designation, so he will be good to go against the Tampa Bay defense on Sunday.
Notre Dame football former star headed to Super Bowl?
With a win on Sunday against the Buccaneers, the former Notre Dame football star will head to Super Bowl LV to take on the winner of the Kansas City vs. Buffalo matchup in the AFC Championship Game. It would be an incredible run for a player who has had to fight for everything he has earned in the NFL after being a sixth-round pick back in 2018.
Fans of the Irish will remember him as the player who hauled in 118 passes for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns across his final two seasons at the school, but he has had to earn the trust of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. On Sunday, expect St. Brown to be a part of the Packers gameplan, hopefully making his presence felt in a big way.
Last year, we saw Mike McGlinchey and Sheldon Day get to the big game, and it actually looked like they would be getting a ring after three quarters. St. Brown represents the Irish’s last chance at a Super Bowl ring this year, so we all have to be pulling for the Pack against Tom Brady and company in the early game.
