The Irish can beat a great defense

A lot of that talk coming into this matchup was about the fact that while the Irish are a team that can put the ball in the hoop on offense, they may not have enough to match up against this tough Miami defense. Miami went into this game as not only favorites to win, but the thought was their press defense would be able to frustrate Hubb, leading to turnovers or rushed shots.

Well, Hubb played it cool the entire game, picking his spots to get his shot up while distributing the ball with efficiency for the second straight game. They were able to frustrate an opportunistic Miami defense, and once the big fellas got going inside, the elite shooters on this Irish team were able to get easy looks.

For the Irish, they now have a little bit of steam heading into Wednesday night, when they go on the road to take on the No. 16 team in the country in Virginia Tech. This was a quality win in every definition of the word, and if Hubb continues to get others involved, and the combination of Laszewski and Durham played the way they did Sunday, this is an offense that is going to be tough to contain.
