The Notre Dame football team is well-represented at the 2021 Senior Bowl, sending seven players to the event, including some of the bigger name prospects on the roster. During Day 1 of the on-field practices, the Irish had plenty of players standout, as they look to continue their journey to possibly playing in the NFL.

With such a weird college football season and no real Scouting Combine in 2021, this is one of the few opportunities players have to really make a statement. On Wednesday, Day 2 of the on-field practices took place, and once again, the Irish were in the middle of a lot of excitement, good and bad.

Notre Dame football WR Ben Skowronek goes down with injury

While there were a lot of positives that came out of Wednesday’s practice, one of the bigger storylines when it comes to the Notre Dame football program was that of wide receiver Ben Skowronek. The transfer had a tremendous season for the Irish in 2020, his only campaign with the program, but on Wednesday, he went down with what some feel is a significant foot injury.

He had been having a solid day up until the injury.

Daelin Hayes continues to have a strong showing

One name that scouts need to continue to keep an eye on is defensive end Daelin Hayes, who is having a tremendous week in Mobile. Hayes has dominated during the 1-on-1 drills, and on Wednesday, he made his presence felt when the National team went into full scrimmage mode.

Hayes got the edge, and came away with a strip-sack, drawing a ton of high-fives from the coaches once he got to the sideline.

Ian Book displayed some arm talent

The biggest name in terms of Notre Dame prospects down in Mobile this week is Ian Book, who is a tough guy to get a gauge on in terms of his draft status. Some feel he could be a late-round pick this year, and based on what he has shown during drills this week, there is nothing wrong with his arm talent.

Book was able to get it done with his arm, and his legs during his time in South Bend, and that is something NFL scouts drool over. He is not going to be a top pick, but he is doing enough this week to warrant a team taking a flyer in the later rounds.
