Notre Dame football true freshman who could have an instant impact: Offense

On offense, the Irish will have the tall task of replacing Ian Book, the school’s all-time winningest quarterback. They will look to do so with the likes of Jack Coan, a transfer from Wisconsin, and possibly Drew Pyne and Brendon Clark. Also, true freshman Tyler Buchner will have a chance to win the job, though that is unlikely.

Looking at that side of the ball, the one area that really stands out is the offensive line, where the Irish will look to replace four-fifths of their starting unit from 2020. That unit was blessed with multiple All-Americans, an early-round NFL Draft picks, so replacing them is not going to be an easy task.

Luckily, the Irish have two offensive linemen coming in that could start right away in Blake Fisher and Rocco Spindler. These two were the class of the 2021 recruiting class, and with a solid summer, there is no reason why they won’t make an impact as true freshmen, possibly from Week 1 on.

Also, the wide receiver group is a big question mark, but Notre Dame football is bringing in a talent class, led by Deion Colzie. This is a kid who has the size and athleticism to be a special player at the collegiate level, and he will certainly have a chance to prove his worth early on in his career in South Bend.
