The Notre Dame football team is one of the elites in college football, making it to the College Football Playoff in two of the last three seasons. Of course, they have still not gotten over the hump when it comes to the CFP, as they have not won a game yet, so there is still a lot of work to be done.

Heading into the 2021 college football season, there is a lot to like about this Notre Dame football team. Not only did they win ten-or-more games for the fourth straight season in 2020, but they are bringing in a solid recruiting class, one that has been ranked in the top-10 in the entire country.

While a top-10 ranking is nothing to turn up your nose at, the Irish can do better, and with Marcus Freeman joining Brian Kelly’s staff, you have to like their chances of that happening as soon as this upcoming recruiting cycle.

Marcus Freeman an elite recruiter for Notre Dame football

Marcus Freeman was not only one of the more sought-after assistant coaches in college football this offseason, but he is widely regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country. We have already seen the impact he can have during recruiting, and the lure of putting on the Gold helmet is not something that is lost on the first-year defensive coordinator.

After years of being the defensive coordinator in Cincinnati, and their key recruiter, Freeman spoke of the power of recruiting for the Irish now. When you combine his recruiting skills and the fact that he can get pretty much any prospect he wants on the phone now, the sky is the limit for this program moving forward.

Even though the Irish have been to two CFPs in the last three years, they still have a gap between them, and the top-3 programs in the country. Hopefully, the addition of Freeman helps them close that gap, and we are already seeing so many high-quality players receiving their offers from the Notre Dame football program each day.

As we look towards the 2022 recruiting cycle, there is a lot to be excited about, as the crop of talent brought in in 2021 is only going to add more depth to this program. With Freeman leading the way in recruiting, Notre Dame football is only going to continue to get better, and hopefully, a big bowl game win is right around the corner.
