Notre Dame Football: 5 observations of the 2021 recruiting class

Solid group of linebackers for new DC Marcus Freeman
The Notre Dame football player got a special man, and coach in Marcus Freeman, their No. 1 target in replacing Clark Lea as defensive coordinator. A man who has seen his career skyrocket in recent years, the 35-year old Freeman will now take control of a defense that was downright dominant at times last season.
He will have to replace a bunch of solid players, including Nick McCloud, Ade Ogundeji, Daelin Hayes, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who many believe is the No. 2 linebacker prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. Luckily for Freeman, the 2021 class is loaded with talent at linebacker, including Prince Kollie, who could be a Day 1 starter in South Bend.
During his career, Freeman has established himself as a genius when it comes to working with linebackers and even had a shot to join the Tennessee Titans staff after the 2019 season in that capacity. However, he stayed at Cincinnati and now arrives with the Notre Dame football program, which was a huge get for the Irish.
Drew White is the top linebacker returning, and outside of Kollie, the Irish have brought in Will Schweitzer, Devin Aupiu, and Kahanu Kia. That is a great young group to work with, and if anybody can get the most out of them, it is Freeman.
