Heading into the 2021 college football season, one of the biggest question marks for this Notre Dame football program will be what their offensive line is going to look like. Last season, they had a veteran unit with a ton of talent, including some All-Americans, and a potential first-round draft pick in Liam Eichenberg.

In 2021, four-fifths of the Irish’s starting offensive line is gone, including Eichenberg, Aaron Banks, Tommy Kraemer, and Robert Hainsey. During the 2021 NFL Draft, all four of these men should hear their name called, including Banks and Hainsey, who dominated during the Senior Bowl festivities.

Luckily for the Irish, they have done a nice job bringing in talent along the offensive line during this recruiting cycle, including two guys who could end up starting right away.

Notre Dame football brought in some top offensive line recruits in 2021

Two of the crown jewels of the Notre Dame football 2021 recruiting class are Blake Fisher and Rocco Spindler, two of the better offensive linemen prospects in the country. These are two guys who are going to be cornerstone players upfront for Notre Dame and will be joining a unit that still has some veteran presence in guys like Josh Lugg, Zeke Correll, and of course, Jarrett Patterson.

Patterson is likely making the leap from center, where he was one of the best in the country last season, to left tackle, replacing an anchor in Eichenberg.

Notre Dame football also brought in Caleb Johnson during this recruiting cycle, and he has already landed on campus as an early enrollee for head coach Brian Kelly. Overall, there is a lot to like about this year’s class, including Joe Alt and Pat Coogan, two players who will definitely see their fair share of action during their collegiate careers.

Losing the amount of elite talent Notre Dame football did upfront could be devastating for a program, but when you look at how they have reloaded along the offensive line, there is still a lot to be excited about in 2021 and beyond.
