Notre Dame football: Most exciting future meetings after 2021

On Tuesday, it was announced that Notre Dame and Florida would be playing a home and home series, which was exciting except for the decade-long wait for the games. In fact, it’s one of several exciting games that are already scheduled post-2021 for fans to be excited by in the future.

These are just a few of those matchups.

It’s funny, given how many Power 5 opponents Notre Dame plays on an annual basis, that they have been given the reputation as playing a weak schedule, while Clemson skips to the College Football Playoff on the back of beating the ACC up. Still, despite all of these exciting matchups, classic rivalries, and several P5 opponents, the Irish are trying to shake negative perceptions about the schedule.

As far as these exciting games of the future are concerned, we’re not going to consider traditional rivalry games. USC is always fun, but it’s not a special prize to have them on the schedule soon. Furthermore, we’re not in the business of predicting how good teams will be in five years.

So, it’s impossible to bank on a team like Florida State being a good game again, and it’s possible Clemson runs into recruiting violations and is decimated as a program. We just don’t know. In other words, things change, and this is a snapshot of the future from this particular moment in time.

It’s also possible more great games are added, as many future schedules are currently incomplete. So, here is to Notre Dame’s illegitimate, Independent schedule:
