Notre Dame football exciting future matchups: Clemson, 2022, 2023, 2027, 2028

It was good to finally knock off Clemson in November, but the ACC Championship Game loss still left a sour taste in everyone’s mouths. Well, in just 2022, Notre Dame gets the first of at least four chances to right the ship against the Tigers over the next decade.

The Irish hold the same 2-4 record against Clemson, with the November win being their first since Dan Devine beat the Tigers in 1977. The Cotton Bowl loss, at 30-3, and the ACC Championship Game, at 34-10, still stand tall as pillars of Clemson’s dominance over great college football teams and reminders of Notre Dame’s failures in the postseason since the Lou Holtz era.

Clemson has made the last six College Football Playoffs, winning two of them. Next year, along with other usual suspects like Alabama, they’ll be one of the favorites, even with a massive turnover on offense.

They simply restock and retool too well to be written off. The Irish can play with and beat them, though. It’s a matter of belief, and maybe a highly touted quarterback recruit who can throw the ball anywhere on the field.
