Notre Dame football exciting future matchups: Texas A&M, 2024 and 2025

Notre Dame actually has a winning record against Texas A&M at 3-2 but lost their last meeting in 2001. That game was played in College Station to a score of 24-3, and that was when Bob Davie coached Notre Dame and R.C. Slocum coached Texas A&M.

Importantly, the Aggies were also the last team that Notre Dame beat in a major bowl game, as the 1994 Cotton Bowl saw Notre Dame beat Texas A&M 24-21.

Given the controversy surrounding the fourth College Football Playoff spot, and they could have had it to lose to Alabama by thirty if you ask me, this game would be more fun in the immediate future, but the not so distant future isn’t bad either.

The Aggies are by far the least accomplished of the teams making this list of exciting future matchups. They’ve never even been to the College Football Playoff, for one, and they also haven’t been able to claim a National Championship since 1939, which is bad given how much emphasis they put on their own history.

Still, at least they have that 1998 Big 12 Championship to keep them warm at night. Well, at least they have a fake college Football Playoff Trophy that they gave to Jimbo Fisher with the year missing, for him to fill in himself.

By 2024, each team will have different rosters, and it’s not unreasonable to expect Brian Kelly to be approaching retirement either by then or near then. These teams will likely be very different than what we know them as now, however, both programs have the resources and desire to put great teams on the field, so they probably will continue to do so.
