Notre Dame football short-term answer at quarterback

This one is easy, as the Notre Dame football team brought in a veteran quarterback to possibly take over for Book this offseason. That player is Jack Coan, who was last seen leading the Wisconsin Badgers to a spot in the Big Ten title game, all the while showing to be a very capable college quarterback.

Coan’s time in Wisconsin ran out with the emergence of Graham Mertz, so as a graduate transfer, he lands in South Bend. An extremely accurate quarterback who does not do much with his feet, he can be seen as a great bridge to whoever is the long-term solution for this Notre Dame football program.

For Wisconsin, Coan completed nearly 70 percent of his passes, came up with some huge victories, and had a solid 18-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio, which would be good for any program. He may not have the scrambling ability of Book, but he can stand in the pocket and deliver the football, and he has some good weapons to throw to in 2021, including a stud recruiting class at wideout, and one of the better tight ends in college football.
