Notre Dame Football: 20 biggest wins of the Brian Kelly era

11. Notre Dame 31, Michigan State 13 (2011)

2011 started pretty terrible for Notre Dame, and that was not the way it was supposed to play out for this team. A loss to USF was shocking to a Notre Dame team expecting to take a step forward in 2011, and it would not get any easier, as a tough University of Michigan squad was on the horizon.

Following that with a close loss to Michigan, Notre Dame was put in a tough spot at 0-2 and was getting ready to host the ranked Michigan State team. This was a Spartans team that had a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, so this certainly would not be the kind of game you look forward to playing when you are struggling as a football team.

From start to finish, the Irish led. Shutting down Le’Veon Bell was the key to the game for Notre Dame, as they forced Kirk Cousins to throw over 50 times to little effect.

Cierre Wood and George Atkinson III provided most of the Irish scoring, as Notre Dame led from wire to wire in an upset win that would be the first win of eight in nine for Notre Dame.
