Notre Dame Football: 20 biggest wins of the Brian Kelly era

10. Notre Dame 37, Arizona State 34 (2013)

In one of the earlier Shamrock Series games, Notre Dame met Arizona State at AT&T Stadium. Ultimately, this game didn’t matter all that much, as both teams were good without being great, hovering around the 20-25 ranking throughout 2013.

Though, when they met, Notre Dame was unranked and Arizona State was 22nd.

The real reason that this is one of the great wins of the Brian Kelly era is that it is one of the great games since he arrived. After no scoring in the first quarter, the second quarter saw an offensive explosion, including touchdown passes to Ben Koyack and TJ Jones.

At the half, the score was 14-13 Notre Dame. In the third quarter Notre Dame jumped out to a 24-13 lead, but they’d face a barrage from Arizona State in the fourth quarter, as the Sun Devils used a pick-six from Tommy Rees to lead a comeback.

Notre Dame would later return the favor, taking a Taylor Kelly interception for six in what would be the game’s deciding score.
