Notre Dame Football: 3 things to keep an eye on offensively this spring

Who steps up at Wide Receiver in 2021?

Last season, the Notre Dame football team saw Ben Skowronek and Javon McKinley step up big time at the wide receiver position, becoming the top two options in the passing game at the position group. With both leaving for the 2021 NFL Draft, players on the current roster are going to have to step up, and there is a lot of talent to choose from.

Heading into the 2020 season, Jordan Johnson was one of the highest-ranked prospects coming into South Bend, but he was a non-factor in Year 1. Due to COVID, he did not lose any eligibility and looking at the group of wideouts coming back, he has the talent to be a legitimate WR1 for the next two seasons.

Also, Kevin Austin Jr., Avery Davis, and Braden Lenzy return, and all three will be expected to play well enough to hold off a stellar recruiting class at wide receiver. Notre Dame football has an elite tight end, and a 1,000-yard running back, but seeing who emerges from this wide receiver group is going to be a huge focus of attention this spring and summer.
