Notre Dame Football: 3 things to keep an eye on offensively this spring

Changes along the offensive line

Outside of starting center Jarrett Patterson, the entire starting offensive line from the 2020 college football season will head off to the NFL. That is a lot of talent leaving South Bend, including multiple All-Americans, All-Conference players, and guys who have been anchors for a team that has won so many games the last three years.

Patterson is expected to move to left tackle this offseason, protecting the blindside of whoever is under center for this Notre Dame football team. There is talent returning outside of Patterson as well, including players who were counted on when guys went down last season, like Zeke Correll, Josh Lugg, and Quinn Carroll.

Some believe Carroll could be the next great offensive guard for the Irish, and with huge recruits like Rocco Spindler and Blake Fisher coming in, this Irish offensive line is ready to reload. Sure, losing talent like Liam Eichenberg, Aaron Banks, Tommy Kraemer, and Robert Hainsey is not going to be easy to overcome, but this is Notre Dame football we are talking about, the program considered “Offensive Line U.”
