Notre Dame Football: Top-25 players of the Brian Kelly era

24. Theo Riddick, RB/WR, 2009-12

  • 244 rushes, 1,169 rushing yards, 5 rushing TDs, 120 receptions, 1,263 receiving yards, 8 receiving TDs

Theo Riddick is the kind of player that makes any offense better. He’s versatile, fast, and not afraid to take on any role in the offense. While at Notre Dame, Riddick was usually looked at as a running back first, but he was just as, if not more, effective as a receiver.

He could line up in the slot or be deadly out of the backfield, and this made him one of the most important weapons during his time at Notre Dame, particularly during the 2012 run to the BCS national title game. During that season, Riddick had some huge games, including a 143-yard effort against BYU, and a 146-yard game on the ground against the hated USC Trojans.

Riddick would go on to be a late-round draft pick by the Detroit Lions, where he played until 2018. Since then, he’s had stops with Denver and Las Vegas. In Detroit, he took on a similar role to what he played at Notre Dame, with 2015 being his best season receiving, and 2016 being his best on the ground.
