Notre Dame Football: Top-25 players of the Brian Kelly era

21. Justin Yoon, K, 2015-28

  • 190 extra points, 96.9% extra point percentage, 59 field goals, 80.8% field goal percentage, 367 points

How highly do you value a kicker? It’s difficult to figure because while it’s not debatable that they’re people, it is debatable that they’re proper football players. Still, special teams are vital to winning and losing games, as even great coaches like Nick Saban can be burnt by bad special teams.

In that respect, Justin Yoon was vital to Notre Dame’s success while he was in South Bend.

Beyond being an excellent kicker, incredibly consistent to the point of almost no doubt when Yoon was sent onto the field, he was also the best statistical kicker in Notre Dame history. Justin Yoon is first in field goals made, field goal percentage, and points in Notre Dame history, a mark of 322 that he set in a win against Virginia Tech during the 2018 college football season.

There’s no denying his success over the course of a career, and who can forget the fans cheering “YOOOOON” every time he went for a kick.
