Notre Dame Football: 5 must-add prospects to the 2022 recruiting class

DT Anthony Lucas, Chaparral, Scottsdale, AZ

We’re going to start on the defensive side of the ball since we are on the Marcus Freeman hype train, and this is surely one that he would love to get a verbal promise from. Coming in at 6’4″ and 280 lbs, Anthony Lucas is a highly-coveted interior defensive lineman recruit from the Scottsdale area in Arizona.

Among his 21 offers are Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, and of course, Notre Dame, amongst many others.

According to 247 Sports, Anthony Lucas is the 26th ranked 247 Sports recruit in the country, and the 116th ranked on the composite list. There’s a reason for this. This young man is a rare combination of raw power and athleticism. He pushes through interior offensive linemen at the high school level with ease and has surprising short distance bursts that showcase his athletic traits.

He is an overall force that is a nightmare for centers and guards, and with a good development program, this should certainly translate to the next level.

His recruitment at this point is open, but the Irish are right in the middle of this recruiting mix and may even have the edge at this point. This young man is a no-brainer addition to the roster.
