Notre Dame Basketball: Irish kick off ACC Tournament vs. Wake Forest
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Basketball program got a shot in the arm on Saturday, as they played host to No. 11 Florida State and played their most consistent game of the year. The Irish were able to put 40 minutes of quality basketball together and dominate the Seminoles, a team many expect to win the ACC this season.
For Notre Dame Basketball, the win could not come at a better time, as it was their regular-season finale, and it sent the senior out on a high-note inside Purcell Pavilion. Nikola Djogo and Juwan Durham played huge roles in the win, combining for 20 points, while Durham led the way with nine rebounds.
As they turn the page to the ACC Tournament, they have a lot of work to do and will look to go on a stunning run over the next few weeks.
Notre Dame Basketball to take on Wake Forest
The Irish finished the 2020-21 regular season as the No. 11 seed in the ACC Tournament and will take on No. 14 Wake Forest in the first round. Notre Dame was able to dominate the Demon Deacons when they met during the regular season back on February, a 19-point victory inside Purcell Pavilion.
In that game, Durham was the star, leading the team with 18 points, while also bringing down nine rebounds in one of his best games of the season. Four members of the Irish finished that game in double-figures in scoring, as a 16-0 run to start the second half proved to be the difference.
Daivien Williamson leads the Demon Deacons in scoring and assists, while Ogy Oguama leads them in rebounds. This is a game the Irish should be able to dominate to kick off their run in the ACC Tournament, and if they can get past Wake Forest on Tuesday night, the No. 6 seed North Carolina Tar Heels await them Wednesday.
