The ACC announced awards for the men’s basketball as determined by a 75-member panel team – 15 head coaches and 60 members of the media. Notre Dame basketball junior forward Nate Laszewski, one of the most efficient players in the ACC, was snubbed by the panel – only landing honorable mention all-ACC.

Fellow junior Prentiss Hubb earned 3rd team honors.

In addition to the All-ACC teams, the ACC announced individual season awards. Georgia Tech’s Moses Wright won the ACC Player of the Year award, while coaches and media members voted Matthew Hurt of Duke as the Most Improved Player.

Notre Dame Basketball star Nate Laszewski snubbed

In the 2020-2021 regular season, Laszewski averaged 13.8 points, 7.6 rebounds per contest. Laszewski tallied all of these stats while maintaining a high level of efficiency, as he shot 60.3% from the field and 46.2% from 3-point land.

He doubled much of his output from 2019-2020 when Laszewski tallied 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest, and his shooting percentages rose from their 2019-2020 levels as well: 41% FG and 31% 3PT.

In comparison to Duke’s Matthew Hurt, Laszewski improves much more. Hurt’s averages went from 9.7 points and 3.8 rebounds to 18.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. This was a 92.7% improvement in scoring and 63.1% improvement on rebounding.

Laszewski’s numbers are similar – 86.4% on scoring on 65.2% on rebounding. However, his shooting percentages were much higher. Hurt only went from 48.7% to 56.0% FG and 39.3% to 43.7% 3PT.

Regardless, Laszewski deserved to finish much higher than 6th on the Most Improved voting list. He finished behind the aforementioned Hurt, Isaiah Wong (Miami), Moses Wright (Georgia Tech), Justin Champagne (Pitt), and Raiquan Gray (FSU).

Prentiss Hubb landed on the 3rd team All-ACC squad after averaged 14.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists this year.

Notre Dame’s lack of top talent clearly translates to a 10-14 regular record. The Fighting Irish begins the ACC tournament against Wake Forest on ACC Network at 7 pm on Tuesday. If the Notre Dame basketball team finds a way to advance, they would face North Carolina on Wednesday.
