Minimize UNC’s second-chance opportunities

The big difference in the game the last time around, a 66-65 victory for North Carolina at home, was the fact that the Tar Heels dominated on the offensive glass. In fact, it was really the only statistic that the Tar Heels were better in during that game, as Notre Dame shot a higher percentage from the floor, but North Carolina earned 14 more attempts.

Second-chance opportunities cannot happen at that rate in this one, because if the Tar Heels are getting extra shots, we have seen what can happen. Getting a body on guys like Day’Ron Sharpe and Armando Bacot will be crucial in this matchup, and the hope is that Juwan Durham can dominate down low, and the guards can help him as they did on Tuesday night.

With a talent disparity, it is never a good thing to be giving the more talented team extra shots, and if it happens again on Wednesday, it could prove to be the end of this Notre Dame run through the ACC Tournament. The Irish are riding high after their win last night and should have enough confidence to really make it a game against the Tar Heels.
