Notre Dame Football: 3 Freshman who will make an instant impact in 2021

WR Lorenzo Styles Jr.

Why Lorenzo Styles Jr? The Ohio native is a dynamic athlete who could play any side of the ball, including special teams, at the power 5 level. For a position group that is looking to hit the reset button, Styles is going to be an impact player on the outside, which will prove crucial for new quarterback Jack Coan.

Styles is a dangerous return specialist on kick/punt returns who exhibits burst on the field that will surely give plenty of Division I athletes trouble. The Irish recruited him at wide receiver, and his tape makes it known that he was born to play the slot position.

Last season, Javon McKinley and Ben Skowronek were the top two options at wideout for the Irish, and they are both headed to the NFL. Styles will join an interesting group at wide receiver in 2021, former big-time recruits who have yet to take off in South Bend, and some veterans as well.

He’s a precise route runner, an electric athlete, and his knowledge and feel for the field are years above him. The young wideout will surely make life hard for defensive backs all across the county and don’t be surprised if that happens this year.
