The Notre Dame Basketball program will see Nikola Djogo head elsewhere next season, as he will enter the transfer portal for the 2021-22 season.

The Notre Dame Basketball program on the Men’s side has a lot to look forward to heading into next season. After winning their regular-season finale, and beating Wake Forest at the buzzer in the first round of the ACC Tournament, they saw North Carolina end their year in round two.

Still, this is a junior-led team that will be back in the mix once again next season, as they return all of their players outside of Juwan Durham and Nikola Djogo. While Durham has yet to say if he will play elsewhere in 2021-22, Djogo made that announcement on Tuesday, as he tweeted that he will enter the transfer portal.

Djogo had a solid season for the Irish this past year, and will likely get more playing time somewhere else.

Djogo actually had a solid season for the Irish in what will be his final campaign, providing veteran leadership down the stretch. He appeared in 26 games, setting a career-high with 19.3 minutes per game, and averaged a career-high five points per contest.

Also, Djogo set career-highs in blocks and steals, proving to be a solid contributor on both sides of the floor. At his next stop, he could be a guy who plays around 30 minutes per game, as he looks to close out his collegiate career.

The move away from the Notre Dame Basketball program is a smart one for Djogo, who would have likely been buried on the bench with so much talent coming in. This is a program that should be headed in the right direction, and we here at Slap the Sign want to wish Nikola the very best at his next stop.
