Notre Dame Football has an outstanding tight end returning in Michael Mayer, and one heading to the NFL who should dominate in the run game.

The Notre Dame Football program is going to be well-represented in the 2021 NFL Draft, as they have the second-most players invited to this year’s ‘Combine.’ One of those players is tight end Tommy Tremble, who shocked the program when he decided to declare for this year’s draft, as he was expected to be a key player for the Irish in 2021.

As we inch closer to the draft, Tremble is certainly a guy to keep an eye on, as a good Pro Day can help raise his stock even more. With more people looking at tape, and his talent becoming apparent, some feel he could sneak all the way up to the third round.

Thor Nystrom, the lead College Football Writer and Draft Analyst for NBC Sports Edge is a trusted voice when it comes to the draft. When looking at the tight ends coming out this year, he had strong words to say about Tremble, who he compares to T.J. Hockenson, who dominated in Year 2 in 2020.

Since declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, Tremble has gone from a bit of an unknown in NFL circles to one of the top tight ends in the draft class, a testament to his overall skill set. Tremble can catch and block, making him the kind of tight end that can play in any set or offense.

Drawing comparisons to Hockenson is major praise for Tremble, as Hockenson was selected eighth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. While Tremble will not rise that high, he does have a better ceiling than he did a few months ago, and there is still time for him to turn more heads heading into April.
