The Notre Dame football team is one of the best in college football, and here is where they would be predicted to land in a 64-team playoff.

It is officially time for March Madness, and with Notre Dame Basketball nowhere to be seen, it is going to be a boring couple of weeks for fans of the programs. However, ESPN recently released what a possible 64-team college football bracket would look like, and we dove in to see where the Notre Dame Football team was listed.

This is a bracket for the upcoming season, and it took into account mostly the outlet’s latest SP+ projections. The Fighting Irish obviously made the bracket, but looking at where they landed, and what happened, it would be considered a disappointing run through the tournament.

Notre Dame football clinches a No. 6 seed

In this projected bracket, the Irish pick up a No. 6 seed in the West Division, where they take on the Purdue Boilermakers in round one. The Irish are able to take care of business against Purdue thanks to a Kyle Hamilton interception in the end zone to seal a 28-24 victory for Notre Dame Football.

Unfortunately, the run would end in the second round, as the No. 3 Florida Gators edge the Irish by two points thanks to an Emory Jones touchdown run on a keeper. Of course, this is just a hypothetical scenario, but one can only think about how cool an actual football tournament bracket would be.

Notre Dame Football will have to replace a ton of starters next season, but only a six-seed seems a bit low for this program. The Irish have been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs, and if I was ranking the bracket, I would make them at least a No. 2 seed in 2021, possibly making a run to the Sweet Sixteen.
