Notre Dame football: Way too early awards for 2021

Most Improved Player

Braden Lenzy-WR

Braden Lenzy was supposed to be the guy at wide receiver in 2020. Between several factors, including injury, he wasn’t, and that was a major issue for the Irish in 2020, as they never did find a true deep threat and it cost them the ability to be explosive on offense like they had been at times in 2019.

Now, with Jack Coan at quarterback, who is less capable of throwing the deep ball than Ian Book was, Lenzy needs to step up and be the top receiving option for the Irish. He is going to be the fastest guy on the field nine times out of ten, and that means he should be able to jet past most corners on the field.

If he can refine his route running, he’ll be deadly from the slot too.

A full offseason of rest to reset and practice to improve should do wonders for Lenzy, who is a natural talent that the Irish need to take off in 2021. With most of their production leaving from the wideout position, this is a crucial season for Lenzy.
