The Notre Dame Football program is expected to have their Blue-Gold game on May 1, according to Irish Illustrated, in preparation for the 2021 campaign.

The Notre Dame Football program has plenty of question marks heading into the Spring, and the hope is that a lot of them get ironed out over the next few months. The 2021 team will be looking to build on the success of the group that just left the program, a group that won ten-or-more games in each of the last four seasons.

For the Notre Dame Football program, they are replacing Ian Book, the all-time winningest quarterback in the history of the school, as well as other elite players on both sides of the ball. This is a program that has been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs, so getting a good start this spring will be paramount.

Notre Dame Football has plenty of questions in 2021

As it stands, Irish Illustrated was told by sources that the Spring Game, known as the Blue-Gold game, will take place on May 1. That game will prove significant, especially with all of the questions marks this season, and with so many true freshmen expected to play significant roles in 2021.

Of course, the main goal is to not only evaluate the talent but come out of the game healthy, as well as giving the coaching staff a good feel of what they have on either side of the ball. Notre Dame Football figures to be in the mix as a top-10 team once again in 2021, and the Spring Game will give the fans their first look at some of the future stars of the program.

There has been no official word as of yet, but an announcement is expected to come down very soon. Hopefully, fans will be allowed in the stands as well, as the Irish prepare for what should be another exciting season in South Bend.
