Notre Dame football: Ranking the best road trips of the 2021 schedule
1. Wisconsin-Soldier Field. Chicago, IL (Neutral Site)
Notre Dame lost its game with Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay due to the B1G 10 canceling out of conference games. That won’t happen this season, as the two programs will meet at Soldier Field, the historic home of the Chicago Bears.
Immediately, this makes this arguably the most unique game of the season, like a bowl game in the middle of the schedule, but in an incredibly historic venue.
As for the game itself, Wisconsin is either the best or second-best opponent on their schedule next season, and by far the best opponent who they won’t be playing at Notre Dame Stadium. For the Irish, winning or losing this game could very well be the difference between going to a New Year’s Six Bowl or not. It’s also going to be one of the most intriguing games from a personnel standpoint, as Notre Dame quarterback Jack Coan takes on his old team, who he led to the 2019-20 Rose Bowl. He lost his job the Graham Mertz after an injury, but this will serve as a chance to prove the Badgers made a mistake moving on from him.
Add in that this game is going to be happening in Chicago, which should speak for itself, and this is a road trip that you absolutely can’t miss in 2021.
