The Notre Dame Football program saw their No. 2 ranking for their 2022 recruiting class fall to No. 4, with Georgia leapfrogging them and LSU.

Coming off two College Football Playoff appearances in the last three years, the goal of the Notre Dame Football program is to keep moving in the right direction. To do so, they are going to have to start recruiting at an even more elite level, and the early returns for the 2022 recruiting class are proving that to be happening.

Heading into this weekend, the Irish had been the No. 2-ranked team in terms of their 2022 recruiting class, thanks to a collection of four-star talent that could take the program to new heights. With Marcus Freeman on board as the new defensive coordinator, and a star recruiter, the future somehow seems brighter for this Notre Dame football program, and it showed with their national ranking.

However, the Irish did fall a few spots recently, and now see themselves as the No. 4 team according to 247sports.com.

Georgia made a big leap this weekend, moving into the No. 2 spot ahead of the Irish, as they leapfrogged both Notre Dame football and LSU. The official order is Ohio State at No. 1, Georgia, and then LSU and Notre Dame, with the Irish being the only team without a commitment from a five-star recruit.

This list is going to change in a big way, as teams like Alabama and Clemson are currently ranked behind the likes of Rutgers and Boston College. As we inch closer to the summer, big-time prospects are going to start to make their decisions, and that is where the cream always seems to rise to the top.

Still, even holding the No. 4 recruiting class with no five-star recruits thus far is impressive, and it is still very early in the game. Irish Illustrated posted that the team plans to have the No. 1 safety in the country in the building in mid-June, which could be another huge piece of the puzzle for the 2022 class.
