Notre Dame Football: CBS thinks Kyle Hamilton would excel on the hardwood
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Football program has an absolute star in Kyle Hamilton, and CBS feels he could take his talents to the hardwood as well.
The Notre Dame Football team has tremendous talent on both sides of the ball, and in Kyle Hamilton, they have one of the better defensive backs in all of football. Hamilton is a kid who has come in and become a leader for this defense, and under new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, he could be even better in 2021.
For the Irish to continue their winning ways, Hamilton is going to have to continue to dominate in the secondary, as all three levels are losing talent due to the draft this season. Notre Dame Football has been to two of the last three College Football Playoffs, so the expectations will be high in South Bend once again this season.
Notre Dame Football star Kyle Hamilton is a two-sport star?
The folks over at CBS recently got together and decided while college football players would be excellent basketball players as well. To play big-time college football, you have to be the elite of the elite in terms of your athletic ability, so it would not be shocking to see a number of the Irish play at the Division I level.
It only seems like yesterday that Antonio Gates was dominating for the Kent State Golden Flash in the NCAA Tournament. While he did not play football for Kent State, he did go on to have a Hall of Fame career in the NFL, displaying the kind of athleticism at tight end that has now become a must-have.
In looking at current college football players who could help their school’s basketball team, Ben Kercheval selected Kyle Hamilton for the Irish, and rightfully so. This is a kid who is as athletic as they come, possesses great leaping ability, and soft hands.
Based on how well the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team has performed in recent years, maybe they could use Hamilton on the squad. In all seriousness, Hamilton is going to be the key to this Irish defense in 2021 and is likely headed for the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
