Notre Dame Football: Case for Tommy Tremble as TE2 in 2021 NFL Draft
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Football program is losing a solid player in Tommy Tremble, who could be the No. 2 tight end in this draft class.
The 2021 NFL Draft is later this month, and after completing their Pro Day, several members of the Notre Dame Football program are in line to be selected across the three-day event. One of those players, Tommy Tremble, has seen a meteoric rise up the draft board since announcing he would not be returning to South Bend in 2021.
Tremble was a solid player for the Irish, performing as one of those guys you knew was going to give it everything he had on every play. Sure, he never really stood out in terms of the stat sheet, but he was key to so many Notre Dame football victories, and some feel he could be even better at the next level.
He performed very well at his Pro Day, and some feel he is now in line to be a Day 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Notre Dame Football star Tommy Tremble the No. 2 TE?
While Tremble is certain to be drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft, the real question is just how high can this kid go. We all know that Kyle Pitts is going to be the first tight end off the board, and likely the first non-quarterback selected, so where does that put Tremble in terms of being the next tight end picked.
Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth is getting a lot of draft buzz, and rightfully so, as he has the size and skills you look for, and is automatic in the red zone. But, Tremble is the better blocker, and has just as much athleticism, so is there a way that he actually gets past Freiermuth and becomes the first tight end off the board?
Brevin Jordan from the University of Miami is another tight end who could go on Day 2, and some feel he will be picked before Tremble. When looking for a player who could play tight end for ten seasons in the NFL, Tremble is one of the top prospects in this draft class, and teams have to seriously be considering him as the second tight end off the board this draft season.
