Notre Dame Football: Early look at 2023 recruiting class targets
Carnell Tate, WR, IMG Academy
One of the very first offers that Notre Dame handed out in the 2023 class landed in the hands of Illinois native, Carnell Tate. The 6’2″ 185 lbs wideout made the move from Marist High School to the elite program of IMG Academy last year, as a result of Illinois canceling high school fall sports.
He is extremely long, deceptively fast, and as sound a route-runner you will find in this class. His skill set is matched with great hands and tremendous ball skills.
Del Alexander has put in good work to land this prospect, and Tate publicizes his love for Irish football constantly through the way of social media. He has several offers from the likes of Florida State, Georgia, LSU, and Penn State, but I believe Notre Dame currently is the favorite to land him.
When this class eventually makes its way to South Bend, the wide receivers that could be on the roster are Jordan Johnson, Xavier Watts, Lorenzo Styles, Deion Colzie, and Jay Brunelle. Tate is the 47th overall recruit in the country according to 247 and the 7th best wideout in the land.
The staff needs to close on this one and they may be close. He fits the profile of a Notre Dame football player and the Irish need this elite talent in the future class.
