Notre Dame Football: Early look at 2023 recruiting class targets

Drayk Bowen, OLB, Andrean

How about a kid on the defensive side of the ball, who is in Notre Dame’s backyard, and goes to a private Catholic High School? Oh yeah, he is also the 28th overall recruit in the country and the best outside linebacker in the land.

Coming in at 6’2″ and 215lbs, Drayk Bowen is an offense’s worse nightmare.

The Indiana native goes to high school an hour away from Notre Dame Stadium, and he is a complete freak on the gridiron. Elite speed, tremendous awareness, and the surest tackler in the class, Bowen is what any NFL scout looks for in the highly regarded linebacker/safety hybrid position.

Though the competition he faces is by no means pass-heavy, he has shown that he can play in coverage and his tremendous close-out abilities.

This is a big-time talent, and although Notre Dame’s 2022 class seems to be loaded at linebacker, there is no way the Irish staff will turn down this commitment. He is slowly building his resume and has racked up offers from schools like LSU, Michigan, Oregon, and South Carolina. Bowen has also voiced that he wants to play on the diamond at the next level, and defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman has given him the approval to do so.

He is already a favorite to land in South Bend, but make no mistake, the recent successes of the Irish baseball team can only make this recruitment easier for the staff to receive his signature.
