Notre Dame football: Top-10 draft picks of the Brian Kelly era
3. Zack Martin
- Dallas Cowboys, 2014: Round 1, Pick 16
There’s not much more that needs to be said about Zack Martin other than he is arguably the best offensive lineman of the 2010s. It hasn’t hurt that he had played on one of the best overall offensive lines in recent memory, but even with all that talent around him, Martin has always stood out as the best of the bunch.
It’s honestly shocking that Martin fell to 16 in the draft, at least in hindsight. After all, he’s been an All-Pro player four times, a Pro Bowler six times, and a second-team All-Pro player twice. He was also named to the All-Decade Team for the 2010s. Once Martin retires, he’ll also be named to Canton.
Like many of the players from Notre Dame in the NFL, Martin has yet to find success in the playoffs. That’s the next step for him, but the Cowboys have issues and it’s doubtful they let him go anytime soon.
