Notre Dame Football: Q&A with 4-Star commit Tyson Ford
Marcus Freeman, The Irish Staff, and Campus
The St. Louis native made his verbal commitment to Notre Dame on the afternoon of January 18th, just ten days after Marcus Freeman accepted the job offer to become the new defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Irish. Weeks before Ford’s commitment, most experts and analysts were locking in their picks for him to end up in Norman, Oklahoma with Lincoln Riley’s staff.
Freeman hit the ground running and ultimately won over the John Burroughs School athlete’s promise. I asked him about their relationship.
Soffa: “What’s your relationship like with Marcus Freeman and Mike Elston?”
Ford: “The relationship with them is great. They’re both great individuals and having conversations with them, they are really excited to have me up there. I’m super excited to be up there and meet up with them face to face. I’m going to be taking my official visit up there this summer, so I’ll finally get the chance to go up there and meet them.”
I was also to discuss with Ford what he’s looking forward to in coming to one of the most prestigious universities in the country.
Soffa: “When it comes to your move to South Bend, what are you most excited about?… Also, are you planning on enrolling early?”
Ford: “Well, to answer your second question I do plan on enrolling early. Actually, I’ll be up there next December. But as far as moving up there, I mean I’m excited. I do understand it’s one of the smaller college towns… but I’m not really worried about it, I’m just really worried about the football aspect I’m sure there will be plenty of things to do on campus. I’ll have a good time and I’ll enjoy myself.”
