The Notre Dame Football team needs people to step up at wide receiver this season, and Braden Lenzy has certainly looked good this spring.

Heading into the spring practices, the Notre Dame Football program had a lot of questions on the offensive side of the ball. First, they are replacing Ian Book at quarterback, a player who led this offense to the most wins of any quarterback in school history.

Also, the Irish are replacing eighty percent of their starting offensive line, and most of their production from the wide receiver spot, but this spring, there has been some standout play from that position group. One player who is taking advantage of the opportunity to step up into a prominent role is Braden Lenzy, who seems to make a circus catch every practice.

Lenzy battled through hamstring injuries last season, but entering his senior year, he is going to be counted on within this Irish offense. There is a bunch of talent on the depth chart, but nobody has really done much of anything during their careers, so Lenzy is in a perfect situation to be one of the key weapons on the outside for Notre Dame in 2021.

Notre Dame Football losing talent at wide receiver

Last season, Javon McKinley and Ben Skowronek were the main targets for Ian Book at wide receiver, and both of them are gone, hopefully landing in the NFL later this month. To replace them, there are a lot of options, including Lawrence Keys III, who is also having himself a solid spring.

Veterans like Kevin Austin Jr. and Avery Davis return and Jordan Johnson was once considered one of the best wideout prospects in the country. Also, true freshman Lorezno Styles Jr. looks ready to play at the next level right away, making the wide receiver group one of the more exciting battles to watch this spring.

Notre Dame football returns elite players at both running back and tight end in Kyren Williams and Michael Mayer, respectively, so likely starting quarterback Jack Coan has a lot of weapons to work with. Lenzy is a guy that many have been waiting to break out for years now, and based on what we have seen this spring, this could be the year he does it.
