Notre Dame Football: Kyle Hamilton the No. 2 prospect in 2022 NFL Draft?
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Football team has a special player in Kyle Hamilton, and one media outlet feels he is the second-best player in the 2022 NFL Draft class.
While the Notre Dame Football program is losing a lot of talent on both sides of the ball this offseason, they also have a lot of talent returning. One such player is safety Kyle Hamilton, who is one of the more elite defensive backs in college football, and a potential first-round draft pick.
In fact, Hamilton got major praise from a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Monday, as Gil Brandt listed his top-5 prospects for the 2022 NFL Draft. In his rankings, Brandt named Hamilton the No. 2-best prospect in the class, and coming from Brandt, that statement holds a lot of weight.
Looking at his list, the Irish will actually play against two of his other top four players, as they have matchups with North Carolina and USC this season. Drake Jackson is a dynamic edge rusher for the Trojans, and Sam Howell, the starting quarterback for the Tar Heels is considered a potential top-pick, so fans of the Irish will see sixty percent of this list in this year’s regular season.
Notre Dame Football has a special talent in Hamilton
Last season, as a sophomore for this Notre Dame football team, Hamilton exploded onto the national scene, as he moved into the starting lineup after backing up Alohi Gilman and Jaden Elliot as a freshman. Not only was Hamilton named first-team All-ACC, but he was also an FWAA first-team All-American, while also being named third-team by the Associated Press.
Hamilton also shined in the big moments, as he had ten tackles and an interception in the team’s ACC title game loss to the Clemson Tigers. He has already been named an early All-American, and with this honor, he puts himself on every team’s radar heading into the next draft cycle.
In all likelihood, this will be Hamilton’s last season in South Bend, so we should all sit back and recognize what a special player we are seeing patrolling the defensive backfield. New defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman is going to love what he brings to the table, as he will be the unquestioned leader of this defense.
