Notre Dame Football: 4 biggest threats on the 2021 schedule
No. 1: Wisconsin
In a game to be played inside Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, the Notre Dame Football program will take on the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin will go into this season as a preseason top-25 team, and have a lot of solid players on both sides of the ball, with defensive talent that could be elite.
At linebacker, the combination of Leo Chenal and Jack Sanborn is one of the best in the country, and Nick Herbig is expected to make a big jump in Year 2 on the outside. Nose tackle Keeanu Benton is another player who can be very disruptive in the backfield, so points could be tough to come by against this Badgers team.
Quarterback Graham Mertz made current Notre Dame quarterback Jack Coan expendable in Wisconsin and would like to bounce back from a so-so season in 2020. He has an outstanding tight end in Jack Ferguson, making the matchup between Ferguson and Michael Mayer an exciting one in this game.
Overall, the Badgers are going to come into this game with a lot of talent, and outstanding coaching staff, so you know that this is going to be a tough win for the Irish. We will see how good Wisconsin is before this game, as they have an early-season matchup against Penn State three weeks before this one kicks off.
