The Notre Dame Football program will likely see Liam Eichenberg be the second Irish player taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. But what is his ceiling, and floor?

Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame Football program has as many as ten players who could hear their names called across the three-day event. One player who will definitely be drafted is offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg, widely regarded as a top-10 player at his position in a very deep draft for his spot.

Offensive tackle has as many as five players who should definitely land in the first round, and that number could be pushed even higher. When it comes to Eichenberg, he certainly has the talent, and experience to land in the first round, but we wanted to take a look at what his ceiling could be, as well as what his floor could be in this year’s draft.

Here’s a look at when Notre Dame football fans can expect to see Liam Eichenberg taken with his ceiling & floor

During his time in South Bend, Eichenberg became an anchor for this Notre Dame Football offensive line, protecting the blindside of quarterback Ian Book. In fact, across his final two years with the Irish, Eichenberg did not allow a single sack on Book, a statistic that is going to go a long way in terms of his draft status.

We start by looking at his ceiling

Liam Eichenberg’s draft ceiling

In terms of his ceiling in this year’s 2021 NFL Draft, I believe that Eichenberg could be as high as the third offensive tackle selected this year. Penei Sewell and Rashawn Slater are the consensus top-two offensive tackles available, but after them, it is anybody’s guess as to which player will be taken third at the deposition group.

Guys like Christian Darrisaw, Teven Jenkins, and Samuel Cosmi are all potential first-round talents but are any of them really as NFL-ready as Eichenberg is. In the best-case scenario for No. 74, he lands with the Los Angeles Chargers at pick No. 13, but a more likely top spot would be in Pittsburgh, who holds the No. 24 overall selection.

Liam Eichenberg’s draft floor

When looking at his floor, I do not believe there is any way that Eichenberg falls out of the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. There are so many teams that are needy when it comes to the offensive tackle spot, and if they pass on him in Round 1, you can believe they are coming back to get him in Round 2.

Some even have Eichenberg landing with Jacksonville to kick off the second round, so in terms of a floor, I do not believe he is available past the Jaguars’ second Round 2 draft pick at selection No. 45.

We have seen Eichenberg drafted all over the place, from inside the first round, to even being pass over in Round 2. There is no doubt that he will not be available for Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft, but just how high, or low, can he go when all is said and done.
