Notre Dame Football: 2021 NFL Draft will be another recruiting tool
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame Football program will see plenty of players selected in 2021, and that will be another recruiting tool for the program.
When it comes to the 2021 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame Football program is going to be one that could rank up there as having the most players selected. All told, this is a special group of players, ones who dominated on both sides of the ball and are more than deserving of hearing their name called across the three-day event.
From first-round picks to Day 3 selections, the Notre Dame football program is going to produce possibly one draft pick per round, and in some cases, even more. There are star defensive players, elite offensive guys, and during the seven rounds, this is a program that is going to be well-represented.
Notre Dame football could have nine selections
In a recent mock draft by CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson, the Irish actually saw nine players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, including Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah in the first round. In terms of exposure, the Notre Dame Football program needs no help, but having so many players selected in the draft is another solid recruiting tool for Brian Kelly and his staff.
When looking at the players mocked to go in the 2021 NFL Draft, you will see that they are from all different position groups, which helps in recruiting too. While Notre Dame Football is considered “Offensive Line U,” there are also linebackers, defensive end, and even quarterbacks that could be selected in 2021, a testament to the overall group of talent Kelly and his staff have brought in.
Notre Dame football got a boost in recruiting by hiring Marcus Freeman as their defensive coordinator, as he is elite not only on the sidelines but in living rooms as well. Freeman can add the 2021 Draft as another weapon in his arsenal to get recruits, something that was not at his disposal during his time at Cincinnati.
Notre Dame Football is a national brand, so it makes recruiting a bit easier, but this is also a program that is trying to close the gap between them and the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson. This could end up being a monster draft for the Irish, and for those high school players watching at home, heading “from Notre Dame” over and over again can only help the staff in South Bend.
