Notre Dame Football: 3-star recruits who had big impacts under Brian Kelly

2016: Ian Book

Ian Book was not supposed to be the all-time winningest quarterback in Notre Dame football history when he arrived on campus, but that is exactly what he became before all was said and done. Book had a magical career for the Irish, leading them to two College Football Playoff appearances, and becoming one of the best signal-callers in school history.

Book was the kind of quarterback who was able to make plays with his arm, and his legs, and he quickly got the respect of his teammates. A leader on and off the field, Book had to battle it out with Brandon Wimbush to become the unquestioned starter in South Bend, but he became all of that and more for head coach Brian Kelly.

All told, Book would go on to become top-5 in nearly every passing statistic, and the statistic that means the most, wins, he is No. 1. Since leaving school, Book has improved his draft status so much that he is being considered as an early Day 3 pick by some media outlets, and whoever gets him, is getting a guy who is not going to rest until he is the QB1.
