Notre Dame Football: 2021 NFL Draft predictions from the SlaptheSign.com staff
Liam Eichenberg (OL)
Connor McJunkin: Round 2, Pick 41, Detroit Lions
Many saw Eichenberg as a day one selection early on in the draft process. However, his pre-draft momentum seems to have fallen as of late, but he is still one of the best tackles in this year’s draft and will be selected early on Day 2.
Plenty of teams need an offensive tackle, and if Detroit goes with a wide receiver in the first round, they should be able to draft Eichenberg early in round two. He would be a perfect fit opposite of Taylor Decker to help protect newly acquired quarterback Jared Goff.
Jack Leniart: Round 2, Pick 36, Miami Dolphins
This is a relatively deep draft class for offensive tackle, and because of that, we will probably see the end of the streak of Notre Dame’s starting left tackles being selected in the first round. The Dolphins need to bolster their offensive line to keep Tua healthy and win games in a competitive division.
If Miami does not take an offensive lineman with the 18th overall pick, Eichenberg becomes a viable option for them to select in the second round.
Andrew Hall: Round 2
Where Eichenberg ends up will depend solely on whether or not NFL teams view him as a tackle or a guard. If they think he can play tackle, he might climb up higher in the second round. If the consensus is that he will move to guard, Eichenberg may fall a little lower. Regardless, I think NFL teams feel confident that Eichenberg will be successful at the next level.
Brad Weiss: Round 2, Pick No. 33, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are bringing in a new franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, and that means he is going to need protection. If the Jaguars pass on an offensive tackle with their two first-round picks on Day 1, expect Eichenberg to be the first player off the board on Friday night.
