The Notre Dame Football team had a star at offensive guard in Aaron Banks, and he rocketed up into the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame Football team figured to be well represented across the three-day event. However, the Irish were shut out of the first round, as both Liam Eichenberg and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah were not selected across the first 32 picks on night one.

However, as we turned the page to Day 2, we knew there could be a run on Notre Dame football players, likely starting with JOK early in the second round. However, it was Eichenberg who was the first Irish player off the board, followed by the man who stood next to him on the offensive line a few picks later.

An All-American this past season, Aaron Banks went to the Senior Bowl and showed himself to be one of the best interior linemen in this draft class, and he was selected as one on Friday night. Banks was the second member of the Irish off the board, going No. 48 to the San Francisco 49ers, a team that brought in a new franchise quarterback at No. 3 in the first round.

Banks is a guy who can play all over the offensive line and would have been the Irish’s left tackle if he returned to school for the 2021 college football season. However, he made the wise decision to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft, and he has to be happy he did, as he was picked way higher than most experts felt he would be.

Incredibly, as we head to pick No. 49, Notre Dame Football star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has still not been picked, after being mocked as high as No. 9 in some mock drafts. In Banks, the 49ers are getting an absolute mauler and someone who can start for this team from Day 1.
