The 2021 NFL Draft kicked off on Thursday night with no Notre Dame football players selected in the first round for the second straight year.

The NFL completed the first 32 selections of the 2021 NFL Draft with no Notre Dame football players picked by NFL general managers. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah finishing the night un-drafted was a complete shocker for Irish fans and NFL prognosticators.

The former “Rover” fell much further than any expert expected. According to ESPN, he is the best available player on the draft board – originally ranking him twelfth overall. NFL general managers likely view Owusu-Koramoah as too much of a “tweener.”

He does not fit at safety, cornerback, or any of the traditional linebacker spots, however, that is the appeal of Owusu-Koramoah. He is the best of all worlds. NFL general managers fail to see his potential to impact a defense.

Once he is drafted, likely early on Day 2, that team will be getting an explosive defensive player who is going to make a big difference at the next level. Every team picking in the first round passed on him Thursday night, which I believe was a big mistake.
